Goals of the Beta Tau Colony

Here are just some of the goals that the brothers of Zeta Beta Tau have set out before themselves:
  • Develop a known presence on the Plattsburgh State University Campus by recruitment of increased "quality" brothers.
  • Develop strategies for raising money to benefit our prime philanthropy project, the Children's Miracle Network.
  • Develop strategies for raising funds, contributions, or services to the Plattsburgh local Women's Shelter.
  • Bridge the gap between other fraternities on campus, forming a general bond relationship, to make ZBT a respected and well sought after fraternity on campus.
  • Form good relationships with all Greek chapters on the campus of Plattsburgh State.
  • Visit other chapters of Zeta Beta Tau on group road trips.
  • Be part of this ongoing odyssey as we all work these and more goals out in the coming semesters at Plattsburgh State.

Also to ensure the success of our brothers and of the colony as a whole, we have developed a few programs to help the brothers when such help is needed.

Academics
For years, academics has been the target of criticism in all fraternities across the country. The common stereotype of the "dumb frat boy" is all too detrimental to the image of all the good that can come from a proper fraternity experience. As such, the brothers of Zeta Beta Tau agree to group tutoring sessions to aid each other with our strengths and weaknesses. When the colony can't help ourselves, we ensure that tutoring is made available for all brothers so that they may achieve in the areas that are lacking.

Open Season Rushing
Unlike many fraternities, the Beta Tau Colony holds an "Open Season Rush" program. Here, interested potential brothers may join at any point during the semester, with formal initiation ceremonies being held 3 times a semester. This ensures that brothers are not shut away from the fraternity simply because they missed the rush date.

Traditions
Because of our small size and the relative youngness of the colony, we are able to offer all potential the chance to help develop our tradition on campus, both publicly and privately. We are all new to the ideas inherent with fraternity life, and a proposed idea is never dismissed without good cause.
